Lighting Gallery

Robert Bengtson’s new gallery in Sausalito, California is a “don't miss” when visiting the area. All of us at www.TotalTrackLighting.com are thrilled at being invited to assist with the lighting plan. Robert contacted us using our “7 Easy Steps to Track Lighting Design,” included a simple but complete drawing based on our short instructional video, and we put together a materials list and made some recommendations.

The real credit, however, goes to Robert. His organizational skills and vision, paired with his excellent communication enabled us to provide just the right lighting components. He then transformed our products and recommendations into a simple, inexpensive track lighting system that works perfectly in his space.

Lighting a gallery is the perfect application for track lighting. With track lighting, you can choose the color temperature, beam spread and brightness. You can use one or more fixtures to illuminate the art and other elements in the space just the way you want. Your gallery is not static, and track lighting allows you to “paint with light” and control both the light and shadows to make your space welcoming, interesting and attractive every time you make a change to the presentation.

As you can see by Robert’s photos below, he takes the entire space into consideration, making the art the center of attention, both inside and out. We are grateful for Robert allowing us to be involved in this extremely successful project.

Our customer came to us with a unique project. The client is an artist that does all his work on the floor. The lighting had to be great in the daytime as well as night. As you can see from the photo, he had both a flat and slope ceiling in the same space as well as six large skylights with motorized shades in them to reduce and control the natural light. The electrician installed the system, added holes in the track so he could support it properly when he moved the suspension points over to avoid the skylights. In the future, when the client is ready he/she will install the track fixtures. Installing fixtures is easy and fast and we always recommend this video if you are inexperienced.

When doing this type of project we suggest that you plan carefully and use a laser to line up the holes in the ceiling to get your cables straight. If have a cable that is off here and there, simply drill a new hold in the track so you can move the track support and leave the cable where it connects to the celling so you do not have to come back to patch and paint.

We would like to report that we have another happy customer who has successfully installed his very own "L" shape LED architectural white track lighting system.

This 20-foot, eight fixture installation can be seen here in his library and according to our customer, he completed the installation "in about four hours - taking my time."

Recently, a customer of ours installed our satin track lighting system in their living space and we wanted to share the results with you!

In the image below, you can see they utilized a continuous rectangle layout to both match the aesthetics of the space while meeting the flexibility of their their lighting requirements.

The TLSK272-SN light fixture chosen for this project combined with the LED 3000K Philips Par 20 light bulb brings a warm white light, creating a peaceful but well lit atmosphere perfect for a multitude of activities.

To achieve the geometrically inspired layout elegantly spanning the ceiling, the tracking lighting system utilized a few of our premium satin track lighting components. The TLSK108-SN L-connector, seen at each corner, was used to create the 90° angles to join the 4ft TLSK4-SN and 6ft TLSK6-SN power track sides together. The TLSK107-SN straight connector mini-joiner, shown in the middle of each side of the rectangle, connected both the 4ft and 6ft power tracks together completing the sides of the rectangle.

The electrical power was brought into the track lighting system through the TLSK108-SN L-connector that not only functions as a mechanical and electrical connection for the power track but also as a power feed to supply power to the satin track system.

Mega Tank was very pleased with the lighting our designers suggested for their trade show display. Here is what they said.

Thanks for the help with the lighting display.  The show was a total success.  We were able to highlight features of our tank better than ever before.  I appreciate your help.  I attached a few pictures of our booth and the tank lighting.

Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, Hitachi, and just about anybody else that makes construction equipment was there.  The major manufacturers showed up with multi-million dollar stage lighting displays, 20’x40’ HD screens, a room that does motion tracking for each person as they walk into the room, complete motion simulator tractors.  We are a small manufacturer in the show.  I felt the lighting helped us show the merits Mega has to offer without spending millions.
